Before Now / Limbs

Measured lengths and
taught flesh leant
on a frame that clicks
and cracks; ticking with
each and every second.

Plastered cracks where
the furrows will
burrow and the creases,
of each and every
feeling, are thrust.

Breathed deep and true
in those rising ribs
of the thee and the you
and the muddy water
is where we wade.

Reached by some
faulty clockwork mechanism
that stutters boldly
for something better,
as the day rolls us on.
