Longevity Of Heart

Longevity of heart,
I wake with a start.
The day unravels before me;
I cleanse and depart.

Ritualised and rigorous,
We ramble on in parts
To a finite horizon, rapture,
Until our soul restarts.

I hold your hand so tightly,
Walk fast to keep your pace
The cold bristling on my cheeks,
The destination an unknown place.

Fear not, these snarling minotaurs
Eyes rolling and smiles set
We stride to a future, stoic
Our heartbeats and feet in step

Longevity of heart
A dream amidst the snores
A whitening of knuckles
As uncertain as these shores
