Hydrocodone

Scalded by time;
Rhyme and reason decline
As we search for a bastion, vanished.
“I’m a soldier”
Was what he told ya,
His brown, leather brogues were unlaced.
Snowflakes take flight
In a dying light
Where the ice on the wind is scolding.
Hydrocodone
And brandy alone
In a hotel overlooking the sea.
Lutheran dreams
Where my lexicon screams
And I can’t find a light for my smoke.
We sail for the east
From a huge, bulbous beast;
I’m invested in hell but I smile.
Let’s have a fiesta
For this giant molester
While we disappear slowly from view.
